Virginia Beach, VA
Waterfront District
Bay beaches, waterfront restaurants and the trails of First Landing State Park make Shore Drive one of Virginia Beach’s favorite places to spend a local day. Explore the communities around Lesner Bridge, Lynnhaven Inlet and the Chesapeake Bay.

Shore Drive

Shore Drive is a broad bayfront corridor in northern Virginia Beach. It connects residential communities, public and neighborhood beach access, restaurants, marinas, parks, natural areas, and the approaches to the Lesner Bridge and First Landing State Park. It is not one neighborhood and should not absorb the separate identities of Chicks Beach, Ocean Park, Cape Story by the Sea, Lynnhaven Colony, Baylake Pines, or other nearby communities.

The Bayfront Advisory Commission, corridor plans, transportation projects, and official park and facility pages provide the most reliable current context. Individual property, parking, school, flood, and civic questions remain address-specific.

What Makes the Shore Drive District Special

Shore Drive combines bayfront recreation with year-round residential and commercial activity. The character changes along the corridor: some areas are closely tied to beach access and local dining, while others are shaped by wooded parkland, marinas, multifamily housing, neighborhood streets, or larger road connections. The page should preserve those differences and avoid describing the full corridor as one walkable beach neighborhood.
