Look for the people you want to learn from or collaborate with. Check whether the event welcomes nonmembers, targets a particular role or requires advance registration.
Be ready to explain whom you help and what you do in one clear sentence. Bring a question about the other person’s work and a simple way to exchange contact details.
Send the promised resource or introduction promptly. Ask before adding a new contact to a newsletter, and keep the next step relevant to the conversation you had.
