Virginia Beach · Boutiques & specialty shops

The Shops at Hilltop

An easy starting point for a browsing-and-lunch day near the Oceanfront, with clothing, gifts, home finds and specialty food shops.

Start with Beecroft & Bull, Frances Kahn or Be Jeweled; compare Baker’s Crust, Baladi and Blue Fin for a meal.

Plan the visit: Hilltop spans several shopping areas. Check the directory and each shop’s exact address before parking; make a short list instead of trying to walk every section.

Virginia Beach · Indoor shopping & entertainment

Lynnhaven Mall

A practical option when you want multiple stores, lunch and entertainment in one shopping trip—or a break from beach weather.

Dining choices include Cooper’s Hawk, Carrabba’s, Maggie McFly’s and Dave & Buster’s. Check the mall directory for stores and the AMC link for films.

Plan the visit: Use the mall map to choose an entrance near your first stop. General parking is complimentary; some preferred spaces are paid. Check posted signs and current visitor policies.

Norfolk · Outlet shopping

Norfolk Premium Outlets

Build a store list for an outlet afternoon, with fashion, footwear, accessories and food stops in one destination.

The official directory lists Nike Factory Store, Coach Outlet, adidas, Columbia, Levi’s, Kate Spade and The North Face. Compare current store details before making a special trip.

Plan the visit: Choose your must-visit shops on the center map before arrival. Leave time for walking between stores, and compare each retailer’s current offer and return policy.

Virginia Beach · Shop, dine & see a show

Virginia Beach Town Center

Pair browsing with a restaurant reservation or a performance at Sandler Center or The Z.

This is a good route for an afternoon that continues into dinner and entertainment. Choose the show first, then work backward to shopping and your meal.

Plan the visit: Check the district directory for the current retail mix and its parking page for garages. A showtime helps you decide when to finish shopping.

Virginia Beach · Local makers & art

ViBe Creative District

Look for local artwork, independent shops and markets, with a mural walk as part of the outing.

The district works well for visitors who want a souvenir with a local connection and residents looking for a new maker or studio.

Plan the visit: Market dates and studio hours vary. Check the specific place you want to visit before building the rest of your day around it.

Virginia Beach · Specialty shopping & dining

La Promenade Distinctive Shoppes

A separate open-air shopping stop in the Hilltop area, with specialty retail, restaurants and wellness businesses.

Use it for a smaller browsing visit or pair it with other Hilltop shops. The center is at 1860 Laskin Road.

Plan the visit: Check the exact shop hours and reserve your meal separately. Leave room in the plan for a nearby Hilltop stop.

Norfolk · Neighborhood browsing

Ghent & Norfolk neighborhoods

Choose a Norfolk neighborhood for independent shopping, food and a slower afternoon on foot.

Start with Ghent, then compare nearby arts and downtown options. Keep the day centered on one area rather than collecting stops across the whole city.

Plan the visit: Check each business location and hours. Some Norfolk neighborhoods need a separate drive or ride between them.

Chesapeake · Mall & shopping centers

Greenbrier shopping

Compare Greenbrier Mall with Towne Place at Greenbrier, then build a route around the shops that interest you.

Chesapeake’s visitor guide also highlights local options such as 3 Little Blackbirds, Peake Chic and Vintage Vibe Home.

Plan the visit: These are different destinations, not one walkable mall. Check addresses and choose one main shopping area for the afternoon.

Hampton · Retail, food & an overnight

Peninsula Town Center

A Hampton shopping option with retail and dining stops that can fit around a Peninsula visit.

The current center directory includes H&M, JCPenney, JD Sports and Target. Check the property map for the stores you want.

Plan the visit: Read the center’s visitor policies before a family trip. Compare nearby activities before deciding to add a drive across the harbor.

Newport News · Shopping, dining & a movie

City Center at Oyster Point

A useful Newport News stop for a few shops, a meal and a movie rather than an all-day mall circuit.

The property directory lists LOFT, Hauser’s Jewelers, Cinemark, TASTE and Cove Tavern, among other dining and service businesses.

Plan the visit: Choose your restaurant or film time before adding other stops. Check store hours directly.

Portsmouth · Gifts, antiques & independent shops

Olde Towne Portsmouth

Browse shops along a historic neighborhood route, with home accents, books, gifts and handcrafted finds.

The district directory includes Half Full Bookstore, Anderson-Wright, Way Back Yonder and Little Shoppes on High.

Plan the visit: Plan a few specific shops and a food stop. Verify each shop’s hours, especially when visiting around a holiday.

Suffolk · Independent shops & gifts

Downtown Suffolk & local finds

Look for local shops, antiques and gifts, then leave time for a meal and a walk through downtown.

Downtown Suffolk’s own directory includes the Planters Peanut Center and the Suffolk Visitor Center Gift Shop.

Plan the visit: Suffolk covers a large area. Distinguish a downtown shopping day from a Harbour View or College Drive trip when planning the route.

Black Friday is a date. A good shopping day is a plan.

Start with a store list, an area and a place for lunch.

Thanksgiving falls on November 26, 2026; Black Friday follows on November 27. Use individual retailer announcements for holiday hours, actual offers and pickup arrangements.

For local gifts, compare ViBe makers, Hilltop specialty shops, Olde Towne Portsmouth and downtown Suffolk. Pair a shopping afternoon with a dated holiday event.
