J.P. Paige emerged as the apparent winner in Norfolk’s Ward 4, putting him on course to continue council service that began with his 2022 election. His background connects military service, small business and higher education.
Several routes into community service
An Air Force veteran and Norfolk State University alumnus, Paige has worked in university teaching and student services, earned a graduate degree in management and operated a small business. His work at Norfolk State has included hospitality and tourism education and student services in the School of Business.
His public and community roles have also included liaison assignments with the East Side and Southside task forces and STOP Inc., alongside board service involving Eggleston Services and Revive Community of Virginia.
Helping institutions connect with people
Those experiences are relevant to residents considering a career, business ownership or a new educational opportunity. A useful connection may begin with a university program, a community organization or a city office; the next step is making the route understandable and accessible.
Paige’s task-force assignments also provide a connection to neighborhood concerns beyond the classroom. As the ward looks ahead, education, enterprise and public service offer concrete themes for following his work and the partnerships that support it.
