Background and local role

Amanda Quillin serves on the Chesapeake School Board following her election in November 2025. Her current term is listed through December 2026. The school division’s biography identifies her as an assistant professor in health sciences at Old Dominion University, with work involving health literacy and education.

Quillin has also chaired Chesapeake’s Commission on Health and Well Being. Her experience connects student learning with the conditions that help children and families understand and use health information. The SECEP consortium lists her as the alternate for Chesapeake’s joint-board representative, another point of connection with educational services beyond an individual school.

Residents can reach her through the official School Board directory. A useful inquiry about student wellbeing should identify the policy or program, explain the concern and distinguish a systemwide question from a private student matter. Individual health or learning records belong with the appropriate school professionals. The division’s meeting page provides the public route for reviewing proposals and commenting on board business before an action is taken.
