Jeremiah O. Harrell

Jeremiah Harrell’s public-service background centers on law enforcement and school safety. His campaign describes 23 years in law enforcement and work helping expand Chesapeake’s School Resource Deputy Program while serving as captain of court services in the Sheriff’s Office. It also describes collaboration with school leaders and administrators.

His stated priorities connect safety with prevention, communication and support for teachers and families. He also calls for responsible budgeting and transparent oversight of the superintendent. For residents evaluating those priorities, useful questions include how safety measures will be assessed, what training is needed and how schools will communicate with families before and during a concern.

Harrell was among the apparent incoming School Board members in Virginia ELECT’s unofficial November 4, 2026 snapshot. That status remains provisional and does not mean he has already assumed office. His campaign website provides a contact form; the school division’s current board directory remains the source for serving members. Individual emergencies and school incidents should continue to use the appropriate school or emergency reporting channels.
