Don Scott
Virginia House of Delegates — District 88
Currently servingBackground and local role
Don Scott serves as Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates and represents part of Portsmouth in District 88. An attorney and former Navy officer, he earned an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University and a law degree at Louisiana State University. His Navy service ran from 1988 to 1991, and he joined the House in 2020.
Scott chairs the House Rules Committee and Joint Rules. His role combines district representation with leadership of the House, so Portsmouth residents can use his member page to distinguish their local legislative contact from broader information about the chamber. For a state bill or budget concern, give the office a clear subject, the proposal number if available and the effect on your community. District 88 covers only part of Portsmouth; residents elsewhere in the city may have a different delegate.
