Local Election Results & Representatives
See who leads in the November 3 council and school-board returns. Explore seven cities, find your district and check who represents you today.
These are dated returns from Virginia ELECT, checked November 4. Election-night precinct reporting was complete, but provisional and post-election ballot categories were not yet reported. Chesapeake’s mailed-absentee category was partially reported at 11:08 a.m. Latest update: Suffolk Borough now shows Tyron Riddick ahead by 50 votes; Chesapeake totals have also changed. Local electoral boards must certify the results. The “Serving now” view remains the October 28 officeholder snapshot; an election lead does not mean a new term has begun.

Make sense of the results
Local elections, explained
When does a leader become a winner?
The results shown here are unofficial. Outstanding ballots and the canvass can change totals. Local electoral-board certification establishes official local results. Taking office is a separate step tied to the term’s start; the serving roster is not automatically replaced.
Why are some races citywide?
Chesapeake, Hampton and Portsmouth elect local council and school-board members at large. Several seats can be filled in one contest. Candidates compete for the available seats as a group, rather than facing one particular incumbent.
Why are there different map layers?
Norfolk residents belong to both a ward and a superward. Newport News has more than one serving member in each district. School-board election districts are not the same as school attendance zones.
How is this information maintained?
This is a dated, source-checked guide. Official rosters, candidate lists and current district files are reviewed separately. Boundary changes require a new official map and verified district matches; election results do not automatically replace current officeholders.
Map sources & coverage
District shapes come from the current official GIS services of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Newport News and Suffolk. Citywide outlines come from the U.S. Census Bureau’s January 1, 2026 boundary vintage. Maps are geographic guides, not property surveys or a determination of voter eligibility.
