Indian River has reached October with its unbeaten start intact—and another shutout on the board.

The Braves defeated Western Branch 62–0 on October 2 in Chesapeake, improving to 5–0. It was their second shutout of the season, following a 35–0 victory over Great Bridge.

A close win inside a commanding start

The opening five games have included a 91–6 win at Granby, a 24–21 victory over Oscar Smith and a 47–14 result at Grassfield.

The Oscar Smith game stands out: three points decided that matchup, while Indian River’s other four wins each came by at least 33. Across all five games, the Braves have scored 259 points and allowed 41.

The next test is away

Indian River is scheduled to visit Nansemond River on October 9 at 7 p.m. The Braves head toward that trip with a perfect record, but October still offers plenty of work before postseason questions are settled.

Results and schedule checked October 4, 2026, against Indian River’s published MaxPreps schedule. Confirm game details before attending.
