Retirement decisions raise practical questions: what income will arrive, when will it arrive, and what should you ask before making a change? A local educational session can be a useful place to begin organizing those questions.
Two opportunities to attend
Frank Tehel, CFP®, EA, of October Effect is hosting Taxable Income When Starting Social Security at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach.
- Monday, October 19, 2026, at 6 p.m. Eastern.
- Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. Eastern.
The seminar is free, with limited seating. October Effect asks each attendee to register separately.
What the session covers
The organizer describes an educational discussion about Social Security taxation and the interaction of retirement income sources, including pensions, IRA withdrawals and investments. It is intended for people nearing retirement and those already retired.
Bring questions, not assumptions
Before attending, write down the decisions you want to understand and the terms you find confusing. A group seminar is a starting point for learning; personal recommendations require a separate conversation about your circumstances. Avoid sharing account numbers or other private financial information in a group setting.
