Care & everyday life in Coastal Virginia
Choose a care team and get more from your appointments.
Start with whether the office accepts new patients, your insurance plan and the age group needing care. Ask which clinician you would see, where appointments take place and how urgent questions are handled between visits. Consider the actual trip at appointment time, especially if a tunnel crossing or a caregiver’s schedule is involved.
For specialist appointments, ask whether a referral or prior authorization is needed and which records should arrive first. Confirm the requirements with both the office and your insurer.
Write down your main concern, when it began and how it affects your day. Bring a current list of medicines and supplements, relevant records and the questions you most want answered. Arrange language or accessibility support ahead of time.
Primary care can be a starting point for ongoing care and coordination. Explore pediatrics for children, medical specialties for focused care and urgent care for its available services. These categories are navigation aids, not a diagnosis or an assessment of urgency.
